Absolute shithole compared to what it used to be
I decided to get out of my normal Baby Dolls routine and venture out to see some clubs that I have not been into in quite sometime - Chica Bonitas, Chica Locos, Spearmint Rhino, and The Lodge. I figured I would hit two gentleman's clubs and two strip joints known for having mostly Cuban women.
Does anyone remember when Cabaret Royale was featured in Playboy magazine and what a remarkable club this was in the late 80's and 90's? Gorgeous women would actually fly in from Las Vegas and Los Angeles to work in Dallas especially when there were big conventions in town. Wow! What a dramatic contrast between the Cabaret Royale of those years and the Chicas Locas of today that operates in that building. At the risk of sounding political, it is truly shocking how much the Dallas population demographics have changed, who is working in these in these clubs, and the customers that are going into these clubs.
It appears as though this club got rid of their valet parking. I pulled into the parking lot and despite it being quite busy, I was able to park in the main lot. There is huge parking lot in the back. As I was walking up to the entrance, I was shocked to see the continued deterioration of this once beautiful building. It is clear the owner believes that his current clientele does not care about the aesthetics because he hasn't put a dollar into maintaining it. I am not an architect, but as I was walking around the club I did question how structurally safe the building is, particularly the balcony area over the reception desk. This club reminds me of what I recently saw with the old Treasures in Toronto which was built as a luxurious gentleman's club but has been allowed to deteriorate under the ownership of the Chinese guy that owns most of the strip clubs around YYZ airport.
