More like Trophy's
The appearance inside is still as described in previous reviews of the old Shimmers. Visually the club has not changed much from the old days of Shimmers. I did not see any dancers around 12:30 pm on a Tuesday. More often in the past a couple dancers would already be in their shift. A few patrons were at the bar and at video poker.
The music has changed from the Shimmers days. Unless specifically selected by a dancer the music previously was a good mix of newer and oldies, and a mix of R&B, pop, rock. The music on this visit was urban contemporary, which was rare previously. The music was fine, just not my style, and seems to be a significant sign of change that Trophy's is trying to appeal almost exclusively to a younger crowd. I only stayed long enough for a beer and some video poker hoping a dancer might appear. My impression was the music was not going to vary much from what was playing when I arrived.
The biggest change was Alice was not tending bar and nowhere onsite that I saw. A 20-something attractive woman with nice cleavage was tending bar. Again my impression was this is the new Trophy's. I would not be surprised if Alice is gone from the club but I have nothing to base that on other than my guessing. I did see Alice at the bar the previous Friday afternoon but a couple of men were busy inside setting up the register and the bar.
My guess is Trophy's is in the process of creating a new atmosphere for a younger crowd. This probably will be my last visit to Trophy's and I'll say goodbye to the old Shimmers with a beer at another favorite bar.
