Dar Tours: A New Hope
I was back in town, so this is not a shill or dupe of my review from the spring. This is an update as of early fall. Things have actually improved in some ways after my pretty negative experience in spring.
What hasn’t changed? Cover is still $50 plus $10 for a drink so you’re still running $60 down just to get in. Inflation is still high and you will be quoted 20-100% higher than CSRP (Club Suggested Retail Price). That means what you could get for a couple $Benjamins in 2019 now will take close to a $Grover. You have to plan ahead and have your negotiation strategy ready or you will lose your shirt. A lot of rules are still different from the old days. Not every dancer is listed on the roster and not all of them dance on stage. All money is still exchanged out in the open. The rooms are still limited where privacy requires going to a bed room, which at inflated prices will cost you bare min north of two $Benjamins if not three. I still don’t get the new difference between the 3 types of bed rooms, but there is something different between the north end, the row behind the main stage, and the row near the restrooms. I should have asked.
What has changed? Business is back and recruiting is up. The roster was very disappointing in the spring. Just within a few months, looks and mileage are starting to turn back towards 2019 levels. One of the messed up things about the inflation is that only the handful of dancers who can get PLs to pay 20-100% markups over CSRP end up staying. So within a few months, 70% of the roster had turned and I barely recognized anyone from the spring aside from a few of the best looking dancers.
