I went to Parkway Tropics at 20:30 on a Saturday night. This bikini club is located in a residential area of Grand Rapids. The parking lot is located across Lake Michigan Drive. There was a $10 cover charge to enter. There were two pool tables in the front of the room. Moving deeper inside, a three-sided bar coming off the left wall almost cuts the room in two. There is a T-shaped stage with two poles and two pillars. The top of the “T” is against the back wall and the bottom of the “T” is a catwalk protruding towards the bar. The runway is about a foot off the ground, and the back part of the stage is only about four or five inches off the ground.

Sincweisers were $4.75 along with other domestic bottles. Import bottles were $5.25. A soda was $3.50. There is a limited food menu of cardboard pizzas, pretzels, and corn dogs. A vending machine on the right wall has snacks. Candy bars were $2 in the vending machine. The ATM allows a maximum withdrawal of $400, and it has a $4.95 fee per transaction. Smoking is not permitted inside. There is a smoking shack in the front yard of the building.

It has been illegal for Grand Rapids strip clubs to have any nudity since 2006. Before 2006, dancers were allowed to go topless at Parkway Tropics. The bikinis worn can be skimpy, but the bottoms cannot be thongs. I was impressed by the average attractiveness of the dancers. There were a lot of 7’s, 8’s, and 9’s. I think the fact that the dancers don’t have to bare their pussy or breasts at Parkway Tropics motivates women who would not otherwise work in adult entertainment to become dancers. Some of the younger girls were local college students.
