I made a visit to this club this past Monday around 1:00 P.M. just because it's been a while and I wanted to see what the vibe was like since Platinum is still closed. The Diamond Club is a smallish but still OK-sized club located right off I-75 on Northside Drive just north of Midtown and adjacent to the Buckhead community. It is very easy to reach the club if you’re exiting southbound from I-75 as you can simply just drive across Northside Drive to the parking lot at the traffic light. Exiting northbound to Northside Drive and then having to turn left into the parking lot at the light is a bit more of a challenge since it is a heavily trafficked road and that light has no protected left-turn. Not the ideal location for a club.

The club opens at noon Monday through Saturday. Free parking and a $10 cover with a pat down. The club is basically shaped like a long rectangle. Restrooms and an ATM are to your immediate right after entry. Then there is the first bar right next to the restrooms with about 6 high chairs. Most of the seating are booths along both sides of the wall. A few high tables and chairs in the center of the club as well as closer to the entrance. There is a smaller secondary bar with about four chairs towards the rear to your left which was also in use during the day. There is a main stage in the middle of the club and another stage towards the rear. VIP is in the rear but I didn’t inquire about VIP fees or prices this trip as this was more of a recon.

The music was a mixture of the old-school soulful R&B tracks from the 70’s and 80’s to the current trap/drill music of today. There was also a little bit of Salsa/Latin music in the mix. I heard some songs from the likes of Keith Sweat, The Ohio Players, Prince, and Bobby Brown. As far as customers, there were only about 10 guys throughout the duration of my trip. I saw one white middle-aged guy but the rest were black and Latino. I only saw one younger customer but the others were clearly at least 35 and up. The DJ was relatively quiet and rarely spoke on the mic throughout my visit. The songs were played out fully with some songs the DJ was playing lasting over 4 minutes.
