San Francisco part 6

I visited Gold Club from about 7:45 to 9:30 pm on Sunday July 31, 2022. The club is on Howard Street between New Montgomery Street and 3rd Street. No parking or valet at the club, pay lots in the area. This is in the kind of southern part of the financial district and like most such areas in cities is pretty deserted at night and on weekends. It is only about a block away from the Moscone Center, San Francisco’s convention center. I had been to the Giant’s game at Oracle Park and walked the about a mile over to Gold Club after the late afternoon game was over about 7. There was no doorman, I entered and paid a $10 cover at the entrance counter.

Proceeding around the left of the counter I entered the club. The stage is along the left wall and the bar is straight ahead along the far wall and to the right of the stage. There are seats at the tip rail around the stage. The rest of the area is mostly small tables with 3 chairs each and a few booths to the sides. The ceilings were high and the decor of the room appears fairly new. There were the common rotating lights. The stage had a rather weird backdrop for the dancers. A black and red kaleidoscope pattern was constantly changing and superimposed on it was a rotating disk with a PacMan symbol on it. There were 2 TV screens to the side of the stage showing advertisements for the club. There is also a separate area upstairs with its own bar that wasn’t in use at this time.

It being dinnertime I ordered food. It being quite dark I had to use the light on my cell phone to read the menu. I had grilled flatiron steak with potatoes and vegetables for $26 and a glass of orange juice for $7. Nothing special about the food. After eating the waitress didn’t bother me much for drinks although she was pretty busy providing drinks for other customers. Not many customers to start but the number increased as time went on. A mixed crowd with some AA. Also a number of women in the crowd.
