Recent Saturday Afternoon Visit - Not Quite What It Used To Be
This review is from a recent Saturday afternoon visit. I think it was around 4 PM or so when I arrived. Parking was easy and free (self-park). The bouncer-door guy scanned me with the metal wand, checked my pockets and I was good to go. Entry fee was $15. I've seen in other reviews that it is $50 at night but I can't confirm this. The last time I was at this location was several years ago (probably a couple years prior to the start of COVID). IMO, the overall experience has declined since then. I apologize in advance if this review is lengthy. I know I won't do nearly as good as the legend Papi Chulo (who, by the way, probably deserves a drink from each and everyone of us with all the content he's giving this site over the years, but anyway).
Walking into the club, it's very foggy. It's not so much cigarette smoke, but from the fog/smoke machine. Also, it was fairly dim. This is common in SCs but seemed a little more dim than other places. The layout is pretty much the same as it has been since I was last there. There is a bar to your right and then the main stage to your front left (after entering the club). The main stage has two poles and there were almost always two dancers dancing here with the exception of when one was late to get on stage. There is seating all around the main stage and additional seating all around a little bit back behind the stage (meaning there's a walkway and then more seating). To the left of the main stage is another bar that has a very small stage and a pole right in the middle of the bar. In the past, this was the third spot for the dancers to rotate to. That isn't the case now. It was vacant the whole time I was there. This was a major bummer. I used to like seating there and catching a good view while having a beer. Besides, this would be there last spot before departing the stage and starting their tip parade/train. And on that topic...
Many here hate the tip parade. This is when the dancer goes around to almost everyone and pretty much expects a dollar for doing almost nothing. In the past, I actually kind of liked it. It would would occur when the dancer got off of stage so they were barely dressed and by being at that left bar, you had a chance to talk with them before they moved on. It was a good opportunity to meet many dancers without having to seek them out (maybe I'm too much of an introvert). But now.....omg. Dancers will come out to you left and right out of the blue and expect a dollar. However, they are fully dressed and honestly, it's just too many of them now. I am of the mindset that now it's sort of annoying.
