Friday Orange Country Recon - part 3
On Friday July 15, 2022 I drove the 70 miles from my home for first time visits to 3 clubs in Orange County. I am writing reviews of each of these. The third one was California Girls Santa Ana which I visited, after taking a couple of hours out for dinner, from about 8:30 to 9:30 pm. The club is on Harbor Blvd a couple of miles south of the 22 freeway. The area is mostly industrial/commercial with a bunch of used car dealers and auto repair places along the street. There is a lot next to the club with a decent amount of parking. Cover was $20 and no security stuff. The guy at the entrance repeated about 3 times that this was a no alcohol nude club, despite my agreeing that that was exactly what I was looking for. Entered through a turnstile. The restrooms are on the far side of the club along a corridor to the left of the stage. The men’s was adequate and clean. California Girls is a part of the Spearmint Rhino empire.
There is a small juice bar along the long side of the club and next to that the entry to the lap dance area. No one approached me to buy a drink so I didn’t . Overall this is not a large club. The semicircular stage projects out from the long wall opposite the side where the bar and lap dance area are. One pole on the stage but the ceiling is indented so it is quite high. There is a “moat” between the stage and another semicircular table behind which are the equivalent of tip row seats. This arrangement is I believe a city requirement in San Diego clubs but I was surprised to see it here since it is not the case is the one other Santa Ana club (Ecstasy Theater) that I’ve been to. There’s another row of seats farther back and parallel to this and various tables and chairs back from the stage and to the sides. Compared to it’s sister club in Anaheim the Santa Ana location is not nearly as fancy. The LED lights are not as fancy but one thing that I liked is that most of the lighting is on the stage so that the stage is actually well enough lit that you can clearly see that the dancer is nude. Dancers did 2 song sets, mostly nude in the second. Many dancers did good pole work. A lot of them kind of ignored the “moat” and either danced in it or climbed up on the narrow table that separated it from the “tip row” seats.
When I first arrived there were only a handful of both dancers and customers but the numbers rapidly increased and by 9:30 when I left the club was getting rather crowded and the parking lot was about 2/3 full. They are open until 4am Friday and Saturday nights, 2am the rest of the week. Early on there were a couple, and they were clearly a couple, of female customers making it rain in a small way at the tip rail. They left after a relatively short time however. The dancers were of various body builds, almost all either white or Latina. I didn’t see any AA. The customers were also all white or Latino, no AA. As the club became more crowded there was a lot of small scale “make it rain”, more shower than thunderstorm and the bartender and bouncer appeared after the set was over with broom and bucket. There was one short and wide and big breasted Latina dancer who really got this going. I stuck with my modest $3 tips.
