The impact of Cuban migration to Austin on budgeting strategies of Austin's residents (Sample size: 1)
Main reason I went to this club was to see a club that's different than what I consider the norm in Austin. It was a fun experience. Keep in mind this was Sunday, but a long weekend Sunday so maybe this could be an exceptional experience so don't take it as a generic Sunday experience or a generic experience. Pricing should be accurate though.
This club is located in a somewhat industrial area, but still easy to find and I did not feel unsafe. There is free parking on one side of the building and valet parking on the other side (valet parking has a larger lot, not sure about the price but I think it's $7, I just saw someone paying so really flimsy information here). From outside, the club looks a bit bad if I'm being honest. It's not terrible but not great. The cover for the night I was there was $25, there's quick security pat down but no ID scanning or anything. The club is not super dark, pretty average lighting. They mainly play Hispanic music (I don't know the current politically correct term, no offense meant to anyone) with some popular songs here and there. When you enter, there's the VIP section to your right, main seating to your left, main big stage in front of you. Part of the main seating area was cordoned off and only opened when it got busy with no more seating left anywhere else. There are 4 stages, before they opened up the cordoned off area only 3 of them were active. There are also 3 private rooms next to the DJ booth, they have bead curtains and look pretty private. In order to get to the VIP area, you need to buy a wristband for $25 from the manager. For the private rooms it's $60 to the club for half an hour and whatever the dancer wants. Most of the customers are Hispanic dudes, but don't be alarmed if you're not or don't speak Spanish. I don't speak Spanish, but I got offered beers by random dudes couple of times (club is BYOB, I don't drink so I refused but they were just nice dudes), I did not notice shady types. Place is reasonably clean but I don't think it's great for cleanliness. Because it's BYOB, there isn't really waitress/waiter interactions but they check on you from time to time for soft drinks and ice or whatever. They're pretty alright.
That was the generic info regarding the club part, so time for info about dances/dancers and unique experiences which is really what I want to share. First of all some generic info about all the dancers, most dancers here are Cubans. Actually, I'd say not being a Cuban is the exception here. I had such a great time that my opinion on Cuban dancers improved quite a bit after this visit. A bit of Spanish would make it a lot easier to talk to the dancers, but they make the effort to communicate even if they can't say a word (Google translate is what I used if we got stuck). If you're coming from Papi_Chulo school of beauty, this club is probably perfect for you, you can find a lot of fat bottomed girls. I am actually impressed with the beauty of the girls, there were quite a few normal looking girls (I would say there were only a few I wouldn't buy dances from, I would buy from the rest and it would be a budget optimization problem rather than an issue with the dancers) and there were 3-4 really beautiful ones. I was lucky enough to get attention from all the super pretty ones. The dances are $20 in the VIP room, they also do dances in the main area, but I didn't ask. Girls ask for $200-300 for half hour for private rooms on top of $60 fee to the club. The dances include "aggressive" 2-way contact. If I can misquote Theoden "SPEARS SHALL BE BROKEN! SHIELDS SHALL BE SHATTERED! FORTH EORLINGAS!" (I know that's not the correct line) would describe the contact levels.
