Two hits and a strike-out at the Landing Strip

I visit Austin every summer and in recent years have hit Landing Strip at least twice on every visit. This review is a summary of *three* visits last month, two of them early on Tuesday afternoons and the third early on a Friday evening.

If you're driving to the club from the north, it is relatively easy to reach, despite ongoing construction on US 183, if you exit at Montopolis Drive onto the US 183 frontage road, pass the club across the highway to your left, and do a U-turn at Old Bastrop Road.

I almost always go in the afternoon, when there's plenty of free parking and the cover charge is $6. On my two Tuesday afternoon visits I skipped the VIP sofa against the wall near the steps down from the main stage, for which I usually pay extra (now $25, I believe) for a certain amount of privacy and as a signal to the dancers that I'm there to buy dances. Since I had arranged by text message to rendezvous with a particular dancer on both of these Tuesdays, I simply met her at a table and got reacquainted before we went to one of the club's "VIP rooms". I use the term loosely because these "rooms" are simply a sofa and table somewhat concealed from the rest of the club by gauze curtains. It doesn't sound very private, but I've had a great deal of fun in them over the years!
