Friday night at the Dragon

I was in the area on a recent Friday night, so decided to swing by the Dragon, I haven’t been here since 2020. This is downtown Portland, so the club doesn’t have a parking lot. You have to park on the street or at a paid parking lot. I arrived just before midnight. The guy outside checking the ID alerted me that it’s a $10 cover right now, and it jumps up to $20 after midnight. I guess I arrived in the nick of time. You then enter the club by walking up a long set of stairs where you pay the cover. They will also give you a bracelet for reentry.

This is a juice bar, so no alcohol. They did have soda or red bull or whatever if you wanted to drink something, like 3 bucks or something. There was no waitress pressuring you for drinks, because obviously there’s no alcoholic drinks served here. The Dragon is a decent sized club. When you walk in, you see 3 pool tables, and some long couches spread throughout the club. There are 2 ATMS, the ATM’s had a 5 dollar withdrawal fee. There is one long main stage, and 2 or 3 mini stages behind the main stages. There were doing 2 song sets with 2 girls being on stage at a time. The mini stages weren’t in use on this night. The men’s restroom situation is probably one of the worst I’ve ever seen at a strip joint. There is no door, there is a toilet and a urinal, and there is no divider between the toilet and the urinal, so you’re pretty much right next to someone taking a piss if you’re taking a shit with no privacy. Which is why I noticed people were just going one at a time in the restroom instead of two people being in there at one time.

This being a juice bar I did notice some customers who were probably under 21. The crowd was primarily a younger crowd. I was one of the oldest customers there that night, and I’m in my early 30’s. This club closes at 6am due to no alcohol. All the clubs/bars in the town close at 2-2:30, so this club gets really packed after 2 am with people coming in from the other clubs that closed. I believe it opens at 6pm, it is super slow till after 11.
