An "A" for design, and a "D" for execution.
Mile High now fully rebranded as Scarlett's, PT's sold the clubs. First, cover is now $15, but no wristband charge to go to private room, so that's a wash I guess. The increased cover may be designed to keep the riff-raff out, but I went in anyway. Once inside, some dude comes to escort you to a seat. Don't really need that. Club nicely refurbished. Layout has changed. New carpeting, chairs, stages, sound system, lights etc. Did not upstairs or to the bathroom, so no word on those areas. DJ at the back on a raised platform area. Giant screen just showed a Scarlett's logo. Did not see any TVs, so I guess no sports will be on. About that sound system. I think my ears were bleeding within five minutes. DJ Nigel Tufnel had it turned up to 11. Could not hear myself think, let alone try to have a conversation. just too loud. The music was not hip hop, not rap, not classic rock, mostly what I would call techno, with a thudding bass that reminded me of the scene in Jurassic Park where the water in the glass shook when the dinos were near. The walls are heavily mirrored, not a bad thing except for the lights. Those rotating spotlights that blind you either directly or indirectly by reflecting off all those mirrored surfaces. Lots of spinning lights in red and blue. The lighting was so crazy that you couldn't hardly see the gal on stage. Way too distracting. I think I still have a headache from the flashing lights and sound system. But we go for the women on stage, right? Did not see much change from Mile High, and for the increased cover charge, one may think that there would be more 7-10 types. Not so, sorry to say. Solid group of dancers, seemed friendly but when you have to yell at them from a foot away, it is hard to tell. But no standouts. Was not there long enough for full night shift so things may pick up later. Only a handful of patrons. so interactions with dancers hard to judge. But it looked largely like the same dancers as when it was Mile High. My guess is that there will be some turnover as some dancers will go deaf and have to quit. I cannot imagine staying there for hours.
