Return to Showcase

I was bored and decided to hit Showcase on a recent Saturday night. This was my first visit since they reopened, post-lockdown. The club opens at 9 and the Friday and Saturday cover is $30. I’m uncertain if M-Th is still $20. The physical layout of the club is largely unchanged. The notable exception to that is that the couches that used to be in front of the stage have been replaced by individual chairs. You used to be able to sit in the couches and get a brief LD from whomever was onstage. I didn’t notice that happening in the chairs. The rest of the seating area is taken up with the same 3-person tables as before, as well as the row of chairs along the back wall.

The former communal LD area to the left of the stage is now curtained off into smaller private dance areas. The net result of this is you can’t get a LD without taking a dancer into a private area. Private area admission is $20 per trip. The fee is waived if you bring the same dancer back later. Dance pricing is $30 per song topless and $40 per song nude. I don’t know if there is a $20 top on option. The DJs play the entire song. What you don’t get any longer is the between song sound effect denoting the beginning of another song. I found that signal helpful if you are unfamiliar with the music being played.

This leads me to an observation. Showcase has seemingly morphed into Fuego, as other reviewers have mentioned. I saw probably 2 Caucasian and 2 AA dancers on this evening. The others (20+) were Latinas. Maybe the Anglo and AA dancers migrated down the street to the competition? I recognized maybe 3-4 dancers from the old days. As before, the body types at Showcase run the entire spectrum from petite to Zaftig. The crowd (and the music) reflected the dancer ethnicity ratio. I like some of the music that is played, but it is not my favorite. I do miss some of the more familiar songs from the past. I got a couple of dances from one of the returning Latina dancers. She shares a name with a former “First Daughter”. She has amazing naturally curly hair, natural boobs and, unlike 98% of the others, no tats. She remembered me from the old days. I wish I spoke more Spanish so that I could actually say something to her more than “Como Esta?”. I always enjoyed my time with her in the past. And this evening was no exception. She gives good grind and allows for a bit of roaming, but no touching the kitty.
