I went to Cody’s Bar and Grill on a Friday night about 20:45 during pheasant hunting season. The front room is the bar and restaurant. The back room is the strip club. Cody’s tagline is: “Where all the Big Cocks come to play!” There was a $20 cover charge assessed by a big cowboy in overalls in the hallway to the strip club. He gives you a wristband so you can leave and come back inside without having to repay the cover charge. The entire strip club is laminated wood. There is a bar on one side of the room with a neon Budweiser sign with a pheasant hanging above it. The opposite side of the room has a stage with a fifteen foot pole. In the corner of the room, there is a cool diorama of stuffed pheasants sitting at a bar tipping a stripper pheasant. There is an outdoor smoking shack off of the back room, which is a good place to talk with dancers away from the noise. The ATM has a $200 maximum withdrawal and charges a $15 fee per transaction.

A twelve ounce Sincweiser was $6. One thing I did not like was that Cody’s gives you change with $2 bills, probably so the dancers make more money per tip. It was a good thing I had stashed a stack of singles in my rig. There is a DJ that plays mostly country and rock music, catering to the hunters rather than the dancers. Food is served in the front part of the building and is very good if you like steak and burgers. The front of the building has a separate sound system that runs off of an internet jukebox. Dancers have to be fully clothed if they go up to the front room, but from what I saw, they just stick to the back room or their dressing room.

There were about twenty-five to thirty dancers working. Dancers travel from all around the country to make bank during hunting season in South Dakota. The club provides housing to out of state dancers for a fee. I would say most dancers were in the 6 to 8 range in looks. The nice thing was every single dancer got completely nude during her stage set. One of the joys in life is being able to see beaver while consuming alcohol. Dancers were making $100 to $200 during their stage sets. There was abundant contact at the stage.
