Scouting trip to Buck's Platinum
After a short and fairly dismal time at Hush on Saturday afternoon, I decided it was time to see how things are at Buck's Platinum. Actually, I initially wanted to visit Buck's Rack City (formerly Scarlett's), but it turns out they don't currently have a day shift, so I was out of luck there; I guess they don't open until 7:00, so I hopped across Alexis Rd. to try my luck at the former Platinum Showgirls.
Buck's Platinum is in a strip mall, with an unguarded but reasonably safe-looking parking lot. It was 5:20 PM when I walked in, and I was surprised to find that you now have to pass through a metal detector to get in. The dreadlocked-but-otherwise-gorgeous door girl scanned my license, checked my coat, and gave me a wristband. I wasn't thrilled about the ID-scan; I know I'm not doing anything illegal, but I don't like the whole tracking thing. That will definitely factor into my decision next time I'm in the mood to try a Toledo-area club. The cover was $5, and there was a sign that promised a titty flash if you tip $10. Well, I figured I'll see some boobs once I get into the actual club, so no. (Although you can just tell that they're fantastic)
The club itself is reasonably well lit, and it's a notch or two above Hush in the class department; it's the kind of place where the managers dress in suit and tie, not hoodie and sweatpants. I've always felt very safe and comfortable at the old Platinum, and the Buck's version is no different. I was told that dances here are $25 per song, which I guess is pretty standard in Toledo.
