A disappointing Columbia Blvd drive on this Sunday afternoon.
I decided to make the Columbia Blvd strip club drive on this Sunday afternoon and was quite disappointed. I was at Columbia Strip around 1:15, walked in and saw no dancers, just a couple of guys at the bar. When I asked if there are any dancers, the cute bartender said no and she didn’t know when any were going to show up. I said goodbye. Next stop, Desire and only two cars in the back part of the lot. I went ahead tried the front door and it was locked with a sharpie pen note, 2PM. I guess that meant when they were going to open today. I then pulled in to The Lounge around 1:30PM.
The Lounge has been newly constructed from a fire a while back when the club was another name. Back in the day, it was called Pop-A-Top and was owned by the same owner of Tommy’s Too and the old Sugar Shack that has been torn down. That owner went to jail in 2015 for prostitution and tax evasion. At Pop-A-Top, if you found a dancer you wanted to get to know a little better, there was a building behind the strip club that had booths for more privacy. Sugar Shack had an adult book store beside it with booths for the same purpose. Anyways, I had read a promising report regarding The Lounge on another site recently and went there in hopes of finding a new hangout. The outside of the building looks good with the remodel. The west entrance off Columbia Blvd for the back parking lot is fenced off, but the east is open. Discrete parking and on this afternoon, there were seven vehicles in the lot, which was encouraging compared to my last two stops. The entrance is in the back and they had a mask sign posted.
Walking in with my mask on, there was no bouncer, no id check, and no cover fee. The inside has two sections with stages in each. The bar is in the center, straight as you walk in. The inside had a dark, blue and purplish glow to it. The remodel looks good on the inside. There is a lighted VIP sign in the west section and four or five curtained booths in the east section. There was a cute bartender behind the bar, one dancer sitting at the bar and no patrons in the building. What the hell were all those vehicles in the lot for? Maybe there is still something a little more adventurous going on in this club like the old days. There is a new small building in the back of the parking lot that had “Lemonade” written across it, but no window for drinks or anything.
