Lookers, the latest in a long line to try and recapture the old Club 35

I finally got back to this club, and it was actually open! A bit of history here. This club started out around 2006 as Club 35 (for 35 Water Street) when the owner couldn't get a liquor license. Fredonia is a college town, but it's also pretty much still a farm town, but the idea of a strip club in such a small town has taken on some life as it has survived through several ownership changes and names. I used to call it the hidden gem, and back in the day it was indeed that. The $50 bed dances were legendary and the regular girls all knew how to send you home happy. A lot of favorites went through this club, but those days are past. Could they return? Perhaps. Tonight showed some promise.

I won't go through the whole history of the club and names and owners (message me if you really want it), but the current iteration is that there is a Syracuse club of the same nome and the owner is trying to expand. This is probably both bad and good. Syracuse is about 3 hours east of Fredonia, and, at least on the night I was there almost all the dancers had come in from Syracuse by car. I herd them and the bouncers, and the owner talking at the bar. Some come just for the night, others for the weekend or at least stay overnight for the next night, staying somewhere locally with another dancer or the bartender. The plus, they make sure they have enough dancers, a big problem with past owners attempts at re-opening this club, and they open on time (ditto) and are apparently open 5-6 nights a week (as opposed to 3 or 4 at best). Sunday and Monday are the iffy nights that you should probably call first. All these are positive developments for getting this club running again.

Now the minus. There were 7-10 girls there on a Saturday night at 9 (early, I know, they said it picks up around 11), but there was really only one I wanted to see more of, or get a dance with. (more on that later) Now granted, most fell in to the solid 6-7 range, with their (in my eyes) shortcomings being with the few extra pounds and too many tattoos. Most were African American girls or mixed race, kind of unusual for the area that has a small hispanic community but is otherwise pretty dominantly white. One girl I talked to (Doll) said she was from the Bronx, and only recently moved upstate. I wonder how the more urban booty twerking style is going to play. There was one very athletic AA girl who was really good on the pole, but while I was there very little stage dancing took place, and most of it consisted of booty in the face. It also seems the Fredonia branch is mostly getting the B team on a Saturday night with the others staying at the apparently more established and lucrative club in Syracuse, which even has a day shift. According to their Facebook page the Fredonia club opens at 5PM, but I really don't believe it. I will however try and check it out and report in comments if it does.
