First time back in a long time

I have not been to Trumpps in over 20 years. It used to be a good place to go but other topless bars and eight-mile rd created a lot of competition. This was an early evening visit with a group of friends, both male and female. Got there a little after seven on Friday expecting to pay cover for my companion and me, but for some reason, there was no cover. Some of the local bars start charging at 7:30 but I'm sure they must charge cover later in the evening. I would consider this to be a top-end club because of the way it's decorated how nice it is inside. The valet was seven dollars but is a necessity because the area around there is not what I would call safe. When our group got there, only one other person was sitting at the bar. For the next hour and 1/2, I think we were the only ones there except for a group of girls that came in and got a booth. They were just messing around and it appeared like they were doing some kind of TikTok video. Strip clubs in Detroit have been hit hard by the city cracking down on overly explicit dancing. I was not expecting too much in the way of dancers figuring that they needed to go elsewhere to make money. I believe there were around 10 girls there when we arrived, and for the most part, they were all good-looking. Nobody was fat or old, and I would not have an issue with any one of them, but there is one who stood out from the others.

We were a mixed group and one of the dancers introduced herself to the table just so she could tell us about dances with couples. She said she did not care if she danced guy or girl or both. If it was both at the same time, the cost would be double the normal cost of the dance which was $25. One couple did go up for a few dances and had to pay cover for both to get in the VIP. I may be wrong about the price but I think he said it was $20 each and the VIP was rather open but they were only looking for playful times. I think extras have gone the way of the dodo in Detroit. If you care about having dinner food was very good in reasonably priced.

Around 10 o’clock the bar started to fill up with a lot of customers and more dancers. Some of the dancers that arrived later had a little more beef on them but still not bad. This is a bar that has been hit with the “make it rain” crowd and a lot of money was flying all over the place from the upstairs balcony down to the middle stage. I am from the old school and I do my tipping at the stage and find this… make it rain… trend to be annoying. To each their own I guess.
