My First-Ever Visit to the Fabled Playhouse

TUSCL reviews planted the idea in my heads that I should finally checkout the Playhouse dayshift. It is a holiday weekend after all! Got there at about 12:45 on Friday afternoon.

Took me about 40 minutes to get there from downtown Philly. It was easy to access, being a pink building on the side of the highway in a barren part of New Jersey. Free parking!

When I stepped inside, it took a few minutes for my eyes to adjust to the dark bar with red string lights overhead. Rectangular room filled with a rectangular bar, 3-poled dance floor inside. Most of the bar seating was already filled with PLs. The typical PL here seemed to be about 65 years old, lost hair about 25 years earlier, and carrying an extra 30 pounds. I was feeling like the girls might like me here; after all, in the land of the blind the man with one eye is king! Found a seat at the bar, gave Maria a Jackson for the cover and a small plastic cup of Coke, and I got a small handful of $1s back.
