Had to give it a try
At a bit after 4:00 today I decided to pay a visit to Club Venus. I drive by there almost every day and was curious about it. I'd been in once, maybe about a year and a half ago and I figured it was worth a try.
The parking is free, but they have a guard shack in the corner of the lot. I didn't see anyone inside the shack, but I presume there's someone keeping an eye on the vehicles. I entered and was greeted by a friendly door guy. There was no cover, so that was cool. The door guy took my temperature while B.S.ing with me. This is one of those places where they also want you to sign your name and give a phone number, so I scribbled the first name that entered my head and made up a number, then walked in.
The first thing you notice about Club Venus is how small it is. Directly in front of the door is the stage, with the bar to the right. There are mirrors on most of the walls, probably to give the illusion of size to the place. I counted TV monitors and it seems to me that 12 TVs for such a tiny place is kind of overkill, but it does give the eye plenty to look at. Which helped, because there was no one occupying the stage. The club is not at all a run-down dive like some of the places around here, and honestly, it looks like they put a lot of money into it.
