Not A Bad, Not Great, But Has Possibilities

After seeing some positive recent reviews, I decided to visit Fannie’s again for the first time since pre-COVID. While I can’t say it lived up to some of the recent reviews, it was not a bad visit. In fact, it was probably better than the average of my sporadic visits over the years, but not as good as some of my best visits.

I dropped in about 2:00 on a Saturday afternoon. The small parking lot was about 50% full and there was a guy sitting in a chair outside the door. I assume he was keeping an eye on the parking lot. He said hello as I walked to the door, but didn’t ask for a parking fee.

There was no one manning the door and no cover charge. Inside, it looked a little nicer than the dive I remembered. Did they do a light refresh during the shutdown, or do I just have a bad memory? It was early, so I just asked for a bottle of water when I go to the bar. $6. Later, I got a Budweiser. $5. Why in the hell is water more expensive than beer?
