Not exactly hopping, but more than I expected.
I had to be in Brunswick, GA again and decided to give the Red Carpet another try. I almost didn't go in when I parked on the side street and saw a half dozen choppers outside the club. I really didn't want to deal with hard core bikers, but a closer look revealed nicer rides that ex-con types couldn't afford.
When I entered the small side street club there was an attendant sitting behind a partition to the left. He wanted a $10 cover and was polite giving change. A small side step past an entry wall revealed a clean, recently remodeled club. A partitioned VIP area is on the immediate left with a bar taking up much of the rest of the left side of the room. On the right, next to the entry door is another VIP room, an open area with tables and chairs, and a square, raised stage with one central pole. At the back of the boom is a restroom on the left, the door to the dressing room, a jukebox type music machine the dancers use to pick songs, and in the back right corner what appeared to be an unused DJ booth. There are chairs along the wall all down the right side of the room. All of the chairs in the club were metal "kitchen table chairs" with no arms and little padding.
Drinks were pretty normal strip club bar pricing. Beer was $4 (I think) and bar stock drinks were $7 to $10. I didn't ask about top shelf stuff, but they had it - actually on the top shelf. When I bought a soft drink it was $3. They were also pretty liberal with shooters which one of the girls tending bar was offering everyone, repeatedly, for $3 a shot.
I only saw 7 different dancers while I was there, but there were at least two more in the dressing room "getting ready." Those two never showed during the 2 hours I was there. I saw one possible Cuban, one I couldn't tell whether she was Hispanic or white or something else, two chubby white girls, and three black dancers. One of the Black women came up right after I sat down and asked if she could join me. I'll return to the girls in a moment.
Since it was nearing 10pm on a Saturday night, I am guessing that the place was not at peak crowd, well at least I hope so. Besides the door attendant, there were two young women behind the bar, one bouncer type (turned out he was the shift manager), and one other guy working there. Then there were five guys in expensive leathers (more banker than biker) who were just standing around, three locals sitting at the bar (with the two chubby white dancers) and 7 Mexicans in two groups. Yes, they were really Mexicans - one of them told me he and two others had green cards but he didn't know the other four. The one I spoke to and his friends could speak English, the others spoke only Spanish with a distinct Monterrey accent. That was all. 16 customers at 10pm on a Saturday night. When I left (before midnight), the biker/bankers were gone, several more locals were there, the Mexicans were still there, and the crowd was up to 20 or so customers.
Back to the girls; soon after "my" dancer sat down with me, one of the other Black dancers went to the jukebox and dialed up some Mexican Tejano/Punk then went on stage to try to dance to it. Turns out the non English speaking guys paid her $100 to dance three songs on stage and she picked that music thinking that's what they wanted. It got really funny as she tried to move to those tunes, take tips in her garter, and flash tits while everyone - her included - were laughing. She finished the three songs, went to jukebox to dial up some stripper rap and came back on stage to do three more songs focusing on the four guys who paid for three songs. She was pretty good when she had something she knew how to dance to.
As this was going the dancer next to me was offering juicy details about the dancer and holding onto my thigh. By the time the dancing fool (we decided to call her that out loud, although I was afraid she might know the reference and dial up some disco tunes) finished her six songs, I had scoped out all the ladies and determined the one next to me was the best of the small group. The white girls were 5s at best, the (possible) Cuban was maybe a 6, and the rest were barely OK as 4s. The young 20yo next to me was a solid 7, maybe touching 8, plus she was easy to talk to and - she WAS sitting next to me! (some nights that adds a point right there!)
After a little more conversation I asked about dance options and I was very surprised to discover that Red Carpet had made some significant changes. Nikole (I am not sure that is her name- she told me during one of the Mexican songs, I had to ask three times, and then she spelled it but I couldn't hear that either), anyway I'll call her Nikole, told me that dances in the partitioned booths were $30 topless or $40 nude (but they were not allowed to grind nude) and we could go to the other VIP for timed nude visits of $100 for three songs, $200 for 20 minutes or $600 for an hour. (the same "no grind nude" rule applied)
I eventually took Nikole to the timed VIP for 20 minutes. No extras were offered and I didn't ask but we were both pretty handsy and she claimed that she got off grinding on me - in spite of the no grinding while nude rule. She took my phone and dialed her number asking if I could call her, next time I was around, to set something up outside the club. And it was really her number - she texted me later to say she had fun.
Overall, Red Carpet is still a small town club with dancers (who don't seem to spend too much time dancing). The VIP is very overpriced. I don't pretend that my sample of one is an accurate representation. There might be some extras available, but I really doubt it happens often. According to the manager, and Nikole, these are mostly local girls and the crowd is mostly locals except Friday and Saturday nights. My recommendation is that anyone travelling I-95 and looking for a busy club or extras is better served stopping in Jacksonville which is just an hour south. But if you want a slow paced, friendlier club - and are committed to Brunswick GA for the evening - the Red Carpet isn't terrible.
