Follies Vibe
Alrighty guys, this is a serious call for reinforcements. I decided to leave work early to stop by “Day shift Follies”. My theory was that a normally slow Monday might be offset by the close proximity of the Holidays. The location isn’t the greatest, with surrounding light industrial businesses and truck torn up roads, but the parking lot was in good shape and there appeared to be more parking on a lower area beside the building. As Shadowcat mentioned, allow your GPS directions due to some significant road/lane closures in the area.
There was a $10 cover charge. She also did a light pat down. As others have stated, there are two levels to the club. All the dancers and customers were on level one except for some lap dances which were occurring in various cubby areas...not the VIP which are separate from these cubby spots. My water and coke were $9. I was immediately waved over to sit with a group of three dancers. I would normally never do that but all three were very cute white spinners! As I sat and chatted with them, I surveyed the surroundings and the talent makeup. The club is very large with a high end sound and light system which explains its late night change to a nightclub. It reminded me of Pink Pony South when they did their very expensive upgrade. Some have said it is a little bright but I didn’t mind the light level. There was smoke of different varieties in the air but I didn’t have a change of clothes since it was an impromptu visit. There was an unobtrusive restroom attendant who was very polite and quiet. Music was mostly hip hop but not too loud. The old Follies “all the lovely ladies” was there as well.
Back to the dancers, there was a very nice 60/40 blend of white and black dancers. I did not see any Latino girls but I’d estimate there were over 20 girls working. And here lies the problem. Beside myself, there were only 4-5 other guys. This has been my biggest worry that a club would start up with some of the cute girls, for me, white spinners, and there’s not enough customers for them to even make their tip out. Two of the three I was sitting with hadn’t made a dollar between opening and 4pm. I knew I wasn’t going to get a VIP but I did get some dances -$10 each to help do my part. I also bought a couple of rounds for them. (I rarely do that either). The dances were Follies quality with good two way contact.
