Definitly Has Potential

Vivide/”Follies Day Shift” is in northwest Atlanta not far from downtown in what looks like a light industrial area. It’s definitely not the high rent district, but it doesn’t look scary, at least not during the day. A good-looking, very friendly door girl collected $10, which I think she said was for parking, checked my ID, and patted me down.

Inside, the club is very nice, and much bigger than it looks from the outside. You enter in the middle of the top floor, which is a mezzanine that encircles most of the first floor. There is a bar immediately to the right. A bridge runs from the bar across the open area above the first floor to a loft seating area against the back wall. There are seating areas on either side and stairs that lead to the lower level. Down stairs there is a stage, another bar, and more seating. The restrooms are under the left wing of the mezzanine, and a row of curtained VIP rooms across from the restrooms.

Everything looks pretty nice and a huge step up from the “old Follies,” which was basically a small dive. I recognized the floor guys from Follies as well as the upstairs bartender who remembered me. A beer cost me $5, plus tip. Atlanta is supposed to be a no smoking town, but there were ashtrays and matches with the Follies logo on the bar.
