Strange times during the VID era
It’s been a long time since I’ve visited “the Boat” and I’ve heard a lot of restrictions due to the VID. Arriving Friday night, the parking lot seems somewhat full, nobody at VIP parking since it costs $5 and it’s not that much closer to the entrance. Both rows behind the VIP were fairly packed so I took the 3rd row. Upon arriving close to the entrance, I noticed there’s a guy out there on his phone. And an honest mistake I just walked in as he didn’t say anything. Turns out he was “waiting” for his turn so the bouncer guy kicked me out. Had I known I would've waited behind him but there’s no signage. Bouncer flagged him in while I waited at his spot (where bouncer normally stands if he was outside) It took at least 5 minutes but felt more like 10.
Once inside, ID and temp check, and I had to lower my mask briefly while he checks ID. Quick scan for weapons then paid the cover $5. Had to listen to his “lecture” regarding the new rules. Basically no playing musical chairs, once he assigned you the spot, that’s it, you can’t change it. No going up to the bar for drinks. For stage tipping, you can’t put money in their g-string. Throw it on the stage or put it in a bucket if they have one. No floor dance, VIP dance must remain 6 feet. That’s it for all the DO’s and DON’Ts
I was seated dead center between the main stage and the entrance, not the ideal place I want but it was assigned so not much choice. Facing the center stage, there’s a smaller stage to my right, then the bar is right nearby. To my left is another smaller stage, VIP area is to the left as soon as you walk towards the main stage then further down is where the restroom is. For a Friday night, it “seems” busy but only because everyone is spread out. All 3 stages are active, I see a couple sitting here and there. The waitress was taking her sweet time, I don’t normally flag down waitresses but a dancer came by and did this on my behalf. Ordered Vodka/Cranberry, had to wait a bit then the waitress came back and said it might take longer than usual since the bartender is on stage. Yes one bartender is working but she’s on stage dancing, it’s not because there’s not enough dancers, I believe she just love to dance.
