A Shadow of Its Former Self
Go Go Rama is an institution in NJ. They’ve done their thing so well for so long it’s disappointing to see what they are now.
This is a post Covid review and there’s nothing positive that I can say. Admission has doubled to $20 and you still have to buy a water @ $7 on top of that. The stage is completely enclosed in plexiglass which gives the feeling of dancers being zoo animals. There are seats at the bar and you can tip through little slots. The whole scene is just bizarre. Masks required at all times. 5 dancers were listed on the “hot line” but only 4 showed up.
LD prices are up to $25 and 15/30 min rooms are now $140/240 up from $100/180. I don’t know if Dance rules are the same or different because I left after 10 minutes.
Look, they have a right to raise their prices to make up for lost Income. And mask enforcement is the deal anywhere you go. What Really bothered me is they have a phone # to call to see who’s in. The one and only dancer I wanted to see didn’t show up but her name was still on the hot line at 9:00 at night. Between the money, the plexiglass and the no-show I’m done with this place for the near future.
