Nice, laid-back black club
I was in Miami for a bit and tried out a few of the clubs. The first place I visited was chosen largely out of proximity. The Foxxy Lady Lounge was about 15 minutes and a $15 ride share from the east side of the airport. It's a nicer building than some of the other small clubs. There are a few parking spots right next to the building and a parking lot across the street. I was a little confused because the lot had a sign saying it was a tow zone, but there was also a cone with a "free parking" sign. The door guy said parking in the lot was fine and free, but for $10 you could park next to the building where he could keep an eye on it (though, really, he could see the full lot too). On my second visit (on which I drove), I opted for the lot and didn't have any problems.
Cover charge was $10. There was a brief and very casual pat down. Inside, like the outside, was reasonably pleasant, with furniture in good shape, decent but not overly bright lighting, etc.. While quite small, it didn't feel like a dive. There's a bar along the back wall, partially divided by the stage that sticks out from it. There are some chairs and tables (a few regular and a few high top). Opposite the bar is a small couch. To the left is a side area with just barely enough room for a pool table and a few more seats, and then beyond that a small bathroom. A bottle of water was $4.
On my first visit (around midnight on a Thursday), there was almost no one there - just a couple of patrons and a handful of dancers. I returned a week later on a Friday, again arriving around midnight. It was much busier. Most of the customers seemed to be small groups of people "going out". There wasn't much tipping at the stage and very little in the way of dances that I saw on either night. On both days I think I was the only white person there. With the big crowd, I felt a bit out of place, but I didn't have any problems and the bartender and dancers were friendly. On Friday one dancer commented that when she saw me she thought "What's he doing here?" and asked me if I was there because I liked the music. I said I was there for the dancers, and proceeded to get some dances, after which she said "We love you". So I didn't fit in, but I wasn't kicked out.
