Friday Night in Space

Was up in Philadelphia on business and figured I had to check this place out. The neighborhood is kind of run-down, but there was plenty of street parking nearby, and I didn't feel unsafe walking to or from my car.

I got there, paid my $10 cover, and got a pretty aggressive pat-down from the bouncer outside. After that, I was free to go inside. Once you enter, you can either turn right and go up the stairs (which is the Outer Space Club), or turn left and go into what looks like a random neighborhood bar with some nearly-naked women in it (La Pearl). I stopped downstairs first and got a small can of diet Coke for $2. I gave the bartender a $5 and didn't ask for change, but the next time I stopped by the bar to get a second diet Coke, they didn't charge me.

I spent most of my visit upstairs. There's a stage with room for two dancers; most of the time I was there, both spots were occupied, but there's no stage rotation as such -- rather, it seemed to be where a few of the dancers had decided they'd prefer to set up shop -- it was the same two or three girls for a solid hour or so.
