Tommy’s, but maybe not a second time

Went to Tommy’s around lunch time on a Saturday. Plenty of parking, although at that time of day it wasn’t very crowded anyway. Went in and ordered a drink and the bartender asked for my ID, I handed it over and she promptly turned around and put it under a scanner behind the bar. To me not too big of a deal but I know for some people that’s enough to not visit a club.

First thing that struck me about the club was the layout, which I wasn’t a fan of. Decent sized stage in the middle of the club with a row of tables off the rack on one side leading to the door to the patio. Directly behind the bar there are a series of high tables jam packed about as tight as you can get with the ATM in the middle of it. Not the most comfortable layout unless you are sitting at the bar or at the rack.

There were only three girls dancing at the time. An older blonde, a younger African American girl, and your typical Portland petite tattoo and piercing chick. The talent level was nothing that would necessarily bring me back for that reason alone. I normally like to sit at the rack, since it was slow each dancer gave plenty of attention in terms of chit chat and dancing in front of you at the rack but not very much contact at the rack at all which is something I look for most in a club. While normally I use dances at the rack to gauge who I would like a private dance with no one here really “sold” me on them... but I had made up my mind before going that I wanted to get a private dance and that’s what I did. Started chatting with the “Portlandy” girl at the bar and was quoted $40 for a dance or $130 for 15 minutes.
