Another satisfying visit
I like Crazy Horse - a lot! I always visit when I get to SF, and I'm rarely disappointed. It's a bit of a dive so be warned. It's not glamorous, and neither are the girls. But I often find a dancer I like who wants to make me happy in the back, and that's what I'm looking for, so the haters can go somewhere else.
As others have noted, it's a strange setup, with movie theater style chairs in rows in front of the promenade-style stage, and more theater-style seating in rows in the back of the house. They recently added a walled-off section near the stage but I haven't had an occasion to check that out, as the stage and the private dance area are enough. If you want to just wait and see what's happening, you can sit in the rows in the back of the house. You'll get occasional but not frequent visits from dances who offer private dances but they're not pushy. If you meet someone you like, go back with her. If not, watch the stage. If a dancer takes the stage who you would like to see more of, move up to the front row and tip (no pressure to be a big spender but be nice). You often will get hands-on treatment at the stage, and will always get a decent performance from the stage dances.
Private (nude) dances are hit or miss. They are 3 for $100 as a base price, which is not outrageous but not a bargain either. Others have complained about the reverse ATM machines that take your money and give the dancers a token, but if the dancers don't mind that then I don't either. You must tip on top of the base amount (of course) and if you do you will often get good service. There's also a topless dance area, which is open, unlike the private rooms for nude dances. It's fine, but if there's a dancer you like, the nude dances are usually worthwhile.
