Return visit on a Weds night

Was back in DC for a work trip and since I really enjoyed my last visit I decided to give MPire another shot. It was a Wednesday night around 10pm and this time it quite a bit more crowded, but also more dancers. Probably about 20 for the whole night. Got in the door and upstairs, and was ushered to seat at the bar, which was my preference. Last time I sat at one of the bar ends right next to one of the stages, which was ideal, but this time both end seats were taken so I sat in the middle. Ordered a Stella which was $12 or 13, and started to survey the scene.

The overall quality of women did not seem as high as my last visit. There was what seemed to be a group of regular customers hanging out in the front corner, and most of the dancers tended to congregate around them, then take their time on stage. The dancers were a good mix of ages and races, really all types represented but not many AA. I guess there are other clubs in DC where you can go for a higher percentage. I sipped my beer and alternated watching the basketball game on the big screen behind the bar, and the women dancing. Did not get approached for quite a while, which was unusual for me. However, once I did get approached, I sure regretted it. An older Asian women who seemed to be faking an extreme level of intoxication came over and was very aggressively asking me questions. I tried to say that I wasn’t interested as politely as I could, but she wasn’t getting the message. After a few minutes of this, she grabbed my left hand and squeezed her fingers around my ring finger and slid them to my fingertip. I truly believe she was trying to steal a wedding ring, but unfortunately for her (and even more fortunate for me) I was not wearing one. This obviously freaked me out a bit and made me feel uncomfortable in the club so I got up and left. I was really bummed that this one woman was able to ruin the experience for me, and now I’m not sure that I’ll return ever again for fear that she’ll be there.

I probably should’ve reported it to management, but she was so obnoxious and I worried it would turn into a he-said-she-said situation and I didn’t want to get involved in that with her and potentially cause a scene. Hopefully her time there is short.
