Visited: Friday After Midnight

I visited Cracker Jaxx at 23:45 on a cold Friday night. The club is tucked away in an industrial area between the Norfolk Southern rail yard and the Grand River. There was a $5 cover cover charge, and Sincweisers were $4 per bottle. The club is one big open room. The stage begins behind the bar and then extends out onto a peninsula where it is possible to tip the strippers. There are two poles behind the stage and one on the peninsula. The back wall is all mirrors. There is a TouchTunes jukebox on the wall, but a DJ was playing music and introducing dancers. I’m guessing dancers play music off the jukebox during slower shifts. The ATM has a $6 fee.

There were eleven dancers working: Stella, Karma, Charlie, Dakota, Alexis, Honey, Kennedy, Angelina, Cinnamon, Carmella, and Arya. Most of the dancers were Caucasian, but the clientele was fifty-fifty split between white and black. A few or the dancers were not attractive at all, but I’d rate about five of the dancers in the 7 to 9 range. Entertainers did not do much approaching. They seemed to sit with regulars or play around with their smartphones when not on stage. Between the time I showed up and the time the club closed, only two dancers approached me. I had to be proactive and approach the dancers myself.

Lap dances are $20 per song in a community room, accessed through the left wall of the club. There are dividers between the booths, which are side-by-side and face a central aisle that constantly has couples entering and exiting. Privacy is minimal, unless you are the only one back there on a slow day. Contact during lappers is two-way, which is the norm at Michigan strip clubs. There are also three champagne rooms in another corridor in the left wall. The champagne rooms are much more private. Their doorways are covered with curtains, and the couches inside of them are about six feet long. One has to pay the club $30 to use a champagne room in addition to whatever fee one negotiates with the dancer. I got the vibe extras were possible with a few dancers, but I also got a feeling that many dancers do nothing more than regular lap dances in the champagne rooms.
