Maybe Not Wonderful, But Not Bad
Some have described the area as sketchy, but it didn’t seem that way to me. It’s close to the docks along the Providence River, and most of the surrounding businesses appear to be warehouses or light industrial operations, but I don’t consider that sketchy. I felt very safe parking and walking in. If you feel unsafe in this area, you have lived a sheltered life. The sketchiest thing about the neighborhood is probably the Wild Zebra, which is the next block over.
Wonderland is the exact opposite of Wild Zebra, which can probably best be described as a sleazy dive (not that there’s anything wrong with that—I had a great time when I visited the Wild Zebra on my last trip to the area). There was a metal detector at the door, but no doorman when I entered just before 7:00 p.m., so I walked in without being asked for an ID or paying a cover.
Wonderland is a smallish club with a nice upscale, well-kept look. The main club area is to the left as you enter. It consists of the bar against the far wall, a stage against the nearest wall, seating scattered around. The stage has a big video screen behind it showing special effects graphics while the girls dance. The lap dance/VIP area is to the left of the entrance, as are the restrooms.
