Some Changes at Crazy Horse

Crazy Horse has been my regular San Francisco Club for over 10 years. It's always been a bit dated, dog-eared facility. But there has been a change in ownership/management. Most of the same staff still works there but there has been a significant turnover in dancers. There are a number of veterans who have been working there for years, but before the changes there were more of those. Some of the changes are positive. They reupholstered the lap dance room, the original red fabric had become black after too many years of service. They created a new lap dance area by taking 1/4 of the seats in the theater. They do not play the loud, often objectionable stage music in the back private spaces.

They've always been PL/user unfriendly. Individual staff can be kind, but there are no benefits of repeated business. The DJs are annoying. The men's room is usually messy, only one of two sinks work, most of the time the only toilet has a wet seat. Nothing about it has even been special or unusual in a good way. Early evening rate has always been lower ($16) between 6-7 PM. But on Friday the clerk (not the regular one) quoted me a price of $31. Because there is a headliner. Well there are headliners most weekends (Thursday/Friday/Saturday), but I have never paid $31. I was steamed and telling one of my regulars about it and a staff guy came over and seemed surprised. He went out to the lobby and came back with a $10 bill for me.

I spent time with two of my dancers, and had a good stimulating time. In spite of everything I wrote above I have always found gorgeous, well built, sexy, sweet dancers there. Most women are white but there are many Hispanic, Asian, Eastern European and black dancers. The mirrors behind the stage are always sadly fingerprinted. The lighting is bad; nobody, dancers and otherwise, is flattered by red or blue spotlights.
