Long live the Axe!
Just when you think that the world has moved on from clubs with a sense of fun, never to return from a bland new world of standoffish tedium with all the excitement of watching a free gift DVD from a copy of FHM magazine, you find a place like this.
It's like stepping back in time to a golden age of strip clubs that probably never existed. Gorgeous girls, acceptable drinks, and plenty of fun to be had. It's a damned shame that the dances are quite so communal, but you can't have it all.
The Axe looks very much like the pub it is. There is a bar stretching the length of the place with a good selection of pub drinks at prices not too far removed from the London norm. Against the opposite wall is the pole on which the girls will dance (following the collection of a quid from anyone in the room) and a collection of couches that seem exclusively for the girl's benefit. Private dances are discussed largely at the bar, and take place in a communal dance area in the back room. Privacy is minimal, but that doesn't seem to limit the fun.
