The More Things Change, The More They Stay The Same
It looks like Louie's has finished its remodel / expansion, and the results are underwhelming. Until earlier this year, Louie's was next door to a burrito joint and maybe one other business. It caused great parking headaches because the small lot was shared among the three businesses. Louie's must have bought out the other two, because now there's nothing else there, and Louie's opened up one of its walls and built out space next door.
But they missed the obvious opportunity to turn the extra space into a room for dances. Louie's is just a hole in the wall (now with a literal hole in the wall, I s'pose) where guys got dances sitting on their stool right at the bar. And that's still where the dances take place, even after adding a room. They put two pool tables in the new room, which at least opens up the space of the main room a bit, but there's no more privacy than there ever was before. I wasn't expecting them to have private booths are anything -- this is still a "bikini bar" or whatever you want to call it -- but at least it could have been more comfortable. Oh well, at least now you can park without boxing someone in.
I went on a Sunday afternoon (5 p.m.-ish) and the girls were the same as always. It's pretty hit and miss in here, but you can usually find one or two you would want a dance from. On this trip, I wasn't feeling it; maybe I was just disappointed at the remodel. I gave this decent marks for value because the dances are only $10 a song. For that you get a decent grind, usually with a flash of the headlights and maybe a little stick-shifting. I'm sure I will be back, if only to play the video poker machines, but Louie's is the same as always.
