Uninspired

I hadn't been back to NY for a couple of years. I went to go check out the 'new' Lido room, LaRouge having followed the evolution of it over the past couple of years. I had previously gone to the Lido room pop up events with $50 entry fees. Those were great events, with tons of hot and gnd girls that didn't seem like or act like strippers. They were genuinely friendly and had real other jobs or were actually in school. The mystic of it was that it seemed like you were going to a bar and picking up real girls. That was the fantasy and appeal. The new LaRouge is not that. Its at a fixed permanent location, which is nice, but its not exactly the same. Also not a fan of all the lingerie nights, it just makes it seem more like a regular strip club with strippers walking around half naked. Also the girls I met when i went seemed like regular strippers. Yes, there is a more laid back atmosphere than a strip club, there is more chatting upfront and girls don't come up to you right away asking for a dance, but in the end they are still asking. Most girls had tats and a few had a distinct money grab stripper vibe like starting a dance mid-song and charging the $20 and also dancing right through the next song (which never happened at the old Lido), or just gong through the motions of a dance, seemingly uninterested in being there. Don't get me wrong, its not bad, but the LaRouge is more like a regular strip club than the old Lido. I stayed for a couple of hours. Beers were $11. Mixed drinks were $18. I got dances from 4 girls. The first girl was decent but again not as good as the old Lido and thought maybe the next one would be better, but no, each subsequent girl was just what you would expect from a regular strip club dance. I went in with $1,500 and left after spending $150. Maybe it was a slow Wednesday, although the girls I talked to said that this was a typical night for the week. Anyone have a different experience? Might try again tomorrow or go check out the Lido room at the Scores location, although from what I've read that isn't necessarily any better? Wish we had the old Lido back.
