Not like old times, but a good time nonetheless

Fantasies used to be my favorite Providence club 20 years ago, so when I had an hour free last Friday afternoon, I chose it over my current usuals. Desire and the Caddy. From what I've been reading, it got really depressing, but it's on an up-swing.

It was a Friday afternoon, so I was expecting a bit more of a crowd. But a good time was easy to find.

They've redecorated. All the kitchy Island-themed cardboard palm trees, etc are gone. It's more sleek and neon now. As you go in, there's a metal detector (unattended that afternoon), a bar straight in front of you, the dance floor in the center of the room to the right, and then another bar at the far end. Most patrons (about 10 or so) were sitting at the bar at the entrance. Some dancers were at the other bar. My whiskey was $9. Water and soft drinks were $5. There seemed to be around 10 dancers walking around, talking to each other, talking to some customers. The vibe was relaxed. No "wanna dance?", even from the dancers on stage.
