Club Was Just OK, But Found a Dancer I Liked
This club is at the corner of Crenshaw and West 135th Street in South Los Angeles. That’s around locales such as Hawthorne, Garndena, and Compton. If you’re down there trolling for strip clubs, just be aware of the part of town you’re heading into. Wherever the best neighborhoods are in that part of town, King Henry VIII is not there. There’s a very small parking lot just outside of the club. When I drove into it, I was told to park across the street. I was arriving during the evening, so not sure what’s up with the lot during the afternoon. The parking lot across didn’t cost me anything, but it was not well lit and pretty trashed up. It was a rental, so whatever. Walked across the street on a red light with traffic going by because I didn’t really want to stand there waiting for the light to change. Lots of foot traffic and bikes going by. People were minding their own business, but it only takes one person with the wrong idea for the trip to go bad.
It’s a black club, which should be obvious from the location but I feel compelled to mention it since I review a variety of clubs around the country. There were two guys sitting outside watching the door. One of them did a quick check to see what I had on me and waved me in. No cover, but it looked like they about the start charging. This club is small, and feels even smaller on the inside because there isn’t much room to walk around. The club is actually a lot to take in at first because there is either some piece of furniture or person in every nook and cranny if the place is busy.I had very low expectations after getting past the turnstile, and headed straight to the bar to get my bearings. I saw no talent that was catching my attention, but it took forever to drive here and the other club around the corner TUSCL had listed was closed. Then about one minute in things took a turn for the better.
Young, cute and sexy. Pretty face with her hair up. A little tall, but oh well. Just the opposite of what I was expecting. You know that rule about don't go with the first girl that catches you in the door. This is why you don't have dumbass rules like that. I took a look at her then took a quick look around the room and said, “You want to drink? I'll buy you a drink.” I’d walked to the bar and ordered a drink and she snuck up behind me and told some joke about getting her one, too. Yes, I got sniped but most (nearly all?) dancers on shift were either older or pretty busted looking. Maybe I drew a bad shift, but I’m just being honest about it. The main stage takes up a hell of a lot of the club. There were multiple dancers on it and there was a pretty good crowd on a Friday evening.
