If in Des Moines, Go West, West Des Moines that is....

First, a word to the wise, this place is fairly close to freeway exit for Grand Ave - you get on Grand Ave going west about a mile at which point you go left on Raccoon River Rd less than a 1/2 mile you will see a colorful sign to the left where you want to turn and go up a long dirt road up to the bar on the river. I did not heed this colorful sign and kept driving and finally said something is wrong here. It's all dirt/gravel and was fairly wet with significant puddles. Parking lot is makeshift - self-assembly by groups of PLs. Wearing slacks as I was coming over from a long day of work, I was not too happy about getting shoes etc. dirty but this is a small price to pay for what awaits. There were some guys milling around outside with the cars - hard to ascertain if they were security bouncers or smokers or checking out those coming in. Drive a beater so, not worried what might be going on in parking lot.

Interesting entrance - there was a line to pay cover - not sure why as I did not see anyone come in from outside at same time as me. Reality is people come from inside the bar area to buy additional beverages or to get singles and that holds up new customers at times. Got a couple of special brews which I wish I could remember the name of - I've looked on website and it does not appear on their list of beverages for purchase. I always hate it when I find a good beer and can't remember the name. In any case, paid cover and went inside. I sat there watching entertainment for about 15 minutes waiting for someone to offer me ice and a bottle opener. Finally had to do some reconnaissance for a bottle opener. None of the other customers had ice buckets so I'm guessing this is not a thing. Last thing I was going to do was ask a dancer for ice. Not the best way to break the ice with a dancer to assume she was a waitress.

I knew I would be in DesMoines so I was looking at the lineup for a few weeks to get a sense of who might be there on a Wednesday. I was a bit disappointed that Gaby, who is one of the talents who, in addition to showing up on the line-up, has her pictures on the website. I was quite interested. Alsa, it was not to be that night. However, most dancers I expected would be there were and the numbers did not disappoint.
