sad, sad, sad
This was the third club I visited about three months ago when I was driving back from Montreal. Four clubs spaced a few blocks from each other on or just off Salinas Street, I went to the first three. Salina is pretty beat down. I'm used to bad sections of big cities, and know how to handle myself. Maybe it's because I'm a little older now, or maybe I felt overdressed and felt like I stood out, but I didn't feel comfortable walking alone here, so I didn't go down to the fourth club. The second doesn't seem to have a listing here, Players Club, I'll review it if I can find it.
Lookers, the last I went to, was the worst. Bar right when you walk in, small stage opposite, I didn't stay long enough to see where the dances were. An overweight, middle aged dancer sat with me immediately. Said she was a school teacher maybe 50 miles away, seemed to enjoy genuinely stripping, unlike the other ladies I met that evening who clearly needed the money but didn't want to be there. We talked a little, then she excused herself to get ready for her time on stage. I politely said looking forward to it, and got out as soon as she left so I wouldn't have the embarrassment of watching her strip. Nice lady, but needed more clothes not less. From what she says, she has her admirers though. Good for her. Sad ending to a relatively sad night for me though.
