Count your change & have some fun

It has been 20 years or more since I was at a strip club while visiting Dallas. At that time I went with some friends who liked upscale clubs. I don’t as a rule and prefer middle of the road to dive clubs. I was then surprised, after reading reviews that seemed to indicate that it was a dive, to find myself in one of the clubs that I had visited those many years ago that was upscale! Not to worry, when I got inside it was a dive. Time changes things.

Chicas Locas is in an industrial area with a huge parking lot, which was barely occupied. They had some of it partitioned for valet parking, but I don’t really see why, except to extract a few more dollars from customers. In the early afternoon I didn’t see a valet. The distinctive facade was the first thing that clued me off to the fact I had been there before. It is more or less the front of an antebellum mansion. It is perhaps the fanciest entrance for a dive bar ever.

Inside, a lady asked me for the $9 cover while simultaneously using twisted economics to tell me that is the cover price because there is a free buffet until 2:00 PM. Apparently later in the afternoon there is no cover? Anyway, I gave the lady a twenty and she gave me a five and five ones in change. I counted them and when I told her she was a dollar short, she just smiled and shrugged her shoulders. The bouncer came over and gave me an additional dollar. Not an auspicious start.
