Consistently good

After essentially striking out at Delilah's, I plotted a course to the sure thing, otherwise known as La Pearl. I hadn't been there in a couple of months, but nothing had really changed. That's a good thing in my book. Upon arriving at the block, there was a fire truck and an ambulance partially blocking Pearl Street, where I usually park in front of a neighboring house. No big deal, I just parked on 54th street.

When I got up to the porch to pay the gentleman outside, I asked what was going down with the emergency vehicles, and he didn't know. However, he did recognize me (I'm a tall white guy, very much in the minority in the neighborhood and inside the club, and perhaps a rarity in visiting La Pearl) and noted that he hadn't seen me in a while. I paid my $10 cover and walked in.

It was moderately full inside. I made a beeline for the restroom as I had been on the road for a while and had consumed a beer at Delilah's. I ordered a water at the bar and sat around the middle. There were empty stools on either side of me. As always, I felt completely comfortable despite being in the racial minority in the club. The guys and ladies there have always been cool with me.
