Two Wednesdays at Players Club aka "the Wheel"
Went to Players two recent summer Wednesdays (July 2019). Combining trips into one review because not much was different. New prices for ice and bottles of water, though.
Basics First: Barely within the City of Baltimore limits, off in a quiet industrial area is The Baltimore Players Club. Long-time mongers know it from its historical name "The Wagon Wheel" or "The Wheel." Club is BYOB, and all nude. High cover charge ($25 for members) keeps out the riff-raff. A $15 annual membership fee adds to the cost, out of state customers can ask for just the $25 entry. Overall, it's cheaper because you can bring your own booze from home and not have to worry about paying overpriced dancer drinks as is the custom elsewhere in Baltimore. Roll up with a cooler, they don't care. Just grab a red solo cup for pouring your drink into. The club has ice and limited selection of mixers, best not to leave it to chance and bring your own. They'll keep your drinks cold for you if you ask. Very limited food, basically just some bags of snacks and vending-machine quality items. But you're not here for the food. The club has recently changed some prices on the ice (depends on how much you need) and bottles of water (was $5, now $6). Still a relative bargain compared to other clubs. But I don't like the general upward trend in prices.
For folks concerned about privacy, they do not scan your drivers' license, which I view as a plus. Also, the club is pretty dark and lit only with red lights and blacklights, and there are some dark corners to hide in if you don't really want to be seen, also a plus. There are one or two bouncers who keep a lax eye on things and move around the club once or twice an evening to pick up empties or go get a girl who's late to be on stage. There is a "bartender" usually an attractive girl like Dawn or Trin whose major role is keeping track of song counts and getting the girls from the back room onto the stage. Darlene hasn't been around for a while, she's okay, just taking a step back from the day-to-day management.
