The Chapeu Returns
I feel I must preface this review by revealing that, despite it's previous flaws, I always liked this place. Call me twisted but I have a thing for dancers who are a little older and heavier than the norm and I found the "dive bar" vibe of the place charming and comforting though in my few visits over the past few years I've been disappointed by the sparse number of dancers on the shift I happened to be there. I was driving by the place recently and noticed that the place had a new look. It had been freshly repainted. curious, I decided to stop in for a beer and check it out.
The first thing that struck me was that this place had been remodeled and it looked good. The layout was the same, stage on the right of the room, bar on the left. The same VIP area in the corner of the room looking exposed and lacking in privacy. But it was all so glitzy and I mean that in a good way. Sparkling chrome fixtures, new state-of-the-art stage lighting and a fog machine built in to the stage. It was early, about 8pm on a Tuesday so there were only about 4 or 5 other customers there and I counted 4 dancers and a server on the floor. The dancers (and the bartender) were all attractive african american women and the server was a friendly attractive white woman, all were 7s and 8s imo.
I only had $20 on me and I planned on having 2-3 beers (still $6 a bottle) and nursing them long enough to get through a rotation. That plan changed when Ebony, hitherto unseen, came out of the back room, spotted me and, almost against my will gave me a table dance that promised an exciting VIP experience in the future when I inevitably return. I gave her the remainder of the cash I had on me, finished my beer and left, wishing I had more time and money to spend.
