It was...uh...interesting.
I happened to be in Ames overnight (and didn't feel like driving to Des Moines) on a Wednesday night (10 pm to midnight) so thought I would drop into Dangerous Curves to see how it was and provide a more recent update (as the last one on here is over a year old). I went in knowing that this is just a bikini bar (nobody gets topless or nude) but still left underwhelmed.
The bar itself is a block north of the main Ames downtown strip of bars, restaurants, etc. It is the very definition of a local dive bar. The entry door is dark and a bit camouflaged, thought there is a hand-painted sign above the door with their name. Plenty of street parking in front or down the street (it is metered but free in the evenings).
No cover charge to get in and once in it was hard to tell who was working there and who where the patrons. The first thing you encounter entering is a pool table, atm machine, and then the bar area the front/left after that, a small seating area to the right, and the stage on the far right. Doing a 90 degree turn you are facing the stage. To the left are the restrooms and the to the right is the private dance area.
