Empty Club. Overbearing Bouncer. No thanks.

As I drove up to Hurricane Betty's I remembered that the last time I was here, a few years ago, I didn't like it. I wasn't sure why, but I remember embedding this club in my mind as a "no go."

Having invested in the fifteen minute drive from some other spots in town, I decided to still saunter in. The club opens at 6:00 on Tuesday, and I arrived at approximately 6:45. The bouncer mentioned that there was a $5 cover charge, that it was going to be waived, but that I would be charged the next time. Whatever.

I asked when dancers would be arriving and was pointed in the direction of the DJ, who speaks like the is the person in charge. A nice enough guy, he explained that he had three dancers in the back and more on the way. I nursed a beer for an easy ten minutes as we made small talk, until a 30-ish thin as a rail white chick appeared. I asked her if she'd like to dance, to which we retired to the back corner of the lap dance area.
