Not Great, Not Terrible
Tried L&L South End to spice up a very tedious work trip. Ubered to the venue - area seems pretty decent, with new-ish buildings in the immediate surrounding area, and not far from uptown. Feels safe and secure.
Walked in and was greeted by a pretty small overall space, clean and reasonably laid out. There is a pool table in a prominent space by the bar which is a rarity these days. I noticed straight away that there were only a couple of women working, and only one or two other patrons. Felt very…awkward and forced. Bartender was very nice and attentive, which is good because I was one of the only folks there. The lack of traffic clearly was affecting the dancers, as I noticed a couple names disappear from the queue on the boards - understandable, considering - but again, made it somewhat awkward to be there. It could have been “intimate” but the vibe was far from that.
Had one dark haired dancer out of the two that were working that caught my eye and asked for VIP. The VIP area in this spot is not at all private - basically a bunch of chairs with a curtain separating it from the main dance area. Dance was straightforward and reasonably priced - I believe a couple songs for $40. I tipped well because she seemed nice and I wanted her hard work to be rewarded, but left shortly after as the overall feel of the place was kind of depressing that night.
All in all, not a terrible time - I imagine it would be pretty fun and lively with a full staff and a decent number of patrons, but my experience was more like that of a group that was just trying to get to the end of the night. I may still give the place another try someday, but definitely on a Friday or Saturday.
