sinclair's Review
I went slumming at Bogart’s Lounge on a late Saturday afternoon. Parking is free, and you don’t have to deal with valets like some Detroit clubs. Upon entering the building, I was stopped at the turnstile just in the door by Pops, the Marine Corp veteran, and assessed a $5 cover charge. The club was about half full. The main stage is shaped like an “H” and has five poles on it. There are two side stages that each have a single pole. Sincweisers were $6.75. A small glass of Coke with way too much ice was $6.50. There was a shot girl roaming around selling $6 shots. Every hour it seemed the disc jockey would announce a flash sale on drinks. One time it was any drink for $5. Another time it was buy one drink at regular price and get a second drink for $3. Smoking is allowed inside Bogart’s. There is a kitchen in the corner, and a lot of patrons were ordering food.
The line-up of seven dancers was rough. Some should have retired from the profession years ago, while others were just not attractive. I guess as long as a stripper has three warm holes, most guys are not that picky. Dancers would do four song sets on stage. On the fifth song, all dancers that were not giving private dances would get up on stage for a showcase. All of the waitresses were older women that looked to be mid-40’s through late 50’s. The bartenders were a little younger, but nothing to stare at.
