Fantastic Talent, A Different Layout
My work has been sending me to Denver fairly often, and I finally got a chance to do something fun one evening. So, time to check out Shotgun Willie's.
I arrived around 10pm on a Sunday night. It was pretty dead (as expected). Valet is mandatory, but there were so few customers that the guy didn't offer a ticket or claim slip, he just said my car would be close by. Picking it up later wasn't an issue at all. Cover was $15 and they sell cigars if you're interested. Smoking seems to be allowed anywhere in there.
Inside, this club's layout is a little different from your typical club. I didn't like it. If they were busy, I think it would be a deal breaker for me.
The main room is a huge square. Looking from top down, the entrance is the the bottom center. There are two bars, one in the bottom-left, and one in the top-right of the layout. Only one of the bars was open, which is fine. Most of the rest of the floor is covered with (I think) SEVEN stages. Each of these stages has a hexagon perimeter, and a pole in the middle. They aren't huge, but they take up the majority of the floor area just because there are so many! Each bar counter was big enough to hold 8-10 chairs, but other than that, there aren't many options at all for places to sit that aren't at a stage.
I spent most of my time sitting at the bar in the top-right of the floorplan. And, here's the other weird thing about the layout; because of the location of the DJ booth, you can really only see ONE of the SEVEN stages from this bar. The other bar would have had a much better view of the floor, but this one is closer to the kitchen, so it makes sense that they only had this bar open. Of the seven stages, they were only using 2 or 3 because it was slow. Again, completely understandable.
The atmosphere is kind of country/western. It's a nice environment with the right lighting and volume. When I was there I would guess that there were 15 women circulating around, and probably about that many customers too. The vast majority of the women were white, and all were very attractive. I'm sure we've all been to a club where we avoid eye contact with a woman working there who isn't all that attractive. This is the first time I have been to a club where there wasn't a single dance that I would have dismissed for her looks. They are all very attractive. I think one of the most attractive woman there was the bartender. She was young, blonde, and very well put together. The drink servers that circulate the floor are all better looking than the talent at many other clubs I've been to.
I spent a few minutes talking with a beautiful dancer, and she talked me into a dance. $100 for three songs. This happens in a little couch area in the top-left of the floorplan. They were long songs, and it was a great time! Touching above the waist was allowed. At the end she tried hard to sell me on private time in another room. I don't remember much of the details, but I think I heard $1k for an hour, but there were lower prices for half hour and 15 minutes too. That isn't my thing, so I left soon after.
I will be back, as long as it's not busy. It was a great time, and I have no regrets. But if you're like me and you want a place to sit away from a stage, don't go when it's busy. You might not have any options.
